In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix™, Harry returns for his fifth year of study at Hogwarts only to discover that much of the wizarding community has been led to believe that the story of the teenager’s recent encounter with the evil Lord Voldemort is a lie, putting Harry’s integrity in question. Worse, the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, has appointed a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, the duplicitous Professor Dolores Umbridge. But Professor Umbridge’s "Ministry-approved" course of defensive magic leaves the young wizards woefully unprepared to defend themselves against the Dark Forces threatening them, so at the prompting of his friends Hermione and Ron, Harry is convinced to take matters into his own hands. Meeting secretly with a small group of students who name themselves "Dumbledore’s Army," Harry teaches them how to defend themselves against the Dark Arts, preparing the courageous young wizards for the extraordinary battle that lies ahead.

Harry Potter and the WiiHarry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Harry Potter 6 Books
First off, I'd like to say that I'm new to this whole Harry Potter thing. No, I haven't been living under a rock. I just never found much interest in it. But my wife is a big Harry Potter fan, and she's read all the books and seen all the movies in theaters, so one day she made me watch the first movie, and then the next, and the next. I really enjoyed the movies, and now have a new interest in all things Harry Potter, so I decided to give one of the games a try.

I was torn between the Wii version and the PS3 version. The Wii of course has the interactive controls where you use the wiimote like a wand, but the PS3 had the HD graphics. After reading several reviews online from people who recommended the Wii version over it's HD brothers, I picked up the Wii version.

Using the spells is really pretty fun and it does make you feel like you're using a wand. Sometimes the controls are a little unresponsive, but I realized you just can't wave your hand around like a madman. If you just take things slow and easy, then most of the time the game will pick up on what you're trying to do.

I haven't read the Order of the Phoenix book, but I have seen the movie, and the game really just loosely follows the movie. Although my wife, who is also playing the game, said they added in some stuff from the book too.

Graphic wise, the game is pretty decent for a Wii game. Or at least Hogwarts is. The castle is really the star of the show here, since you'll be spending most of the time walking from one end of Hogwarts to the other. However, I was kind of disappointed with some of the character models. Although Harry and his friends look good, you can tell that not as much time went into some of the other characters walking around. Also, this game has a bad case of the "jaggies"; a lot of jagged edges to be found.

Sound is pretty good with songs from the movies in there, and I think they said they got 21 or 22 of the actors from the movies to voice their parts. However, I don't think they got the actor who played Harry to do his voice, but they defiantly found someone who sounds just like him. But the voice actor they got to play Snape was just horrible.

Gameplay is pretty straight forward and you'll be spending most of your time performing tasks for other students, like finishing their homework for them or getting bullies to leave them alone and so forth. My favorite part of the game comes towards the end, where you and you're fellow students are doing things to give Umbridge a hard time.

There is some fighting in the game, but don't confuse this game as being an action game. The dueling is kind of dull really, and isn't really as exciting as it could have been. And I'm not even sure if you can lose, because I never did (unless you were supposed to).

If you have multiple systems, and are trying to decide which version to get, you have to ask yourself which is more important: graphics or interactivity?

Better than expectedHarry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Harry Potter 6 Books
This was my first Harry Potter game and I found it to be fun. Using the Wiimote as a wand to cast spells made the game interesting. Trying to convince a new player to say the magic words outloud while playing is even more fun though.

The best HP game so far.Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Harry Potter 6 Books
The whole hogwarts campus is open, no waiting for an area to load. The music and castle are beautiful. The tasks can be a little tedious, but you get through them. The only negative about it is that it's somewhat boring defeating voldemort (sp?) overall wonderful, easy-to-follow game!
